We asked author ELLEN RENNER to tell us more about the fabulous STORM WITCH series, and her latest book UNDER EARTH:

InterviewĮLLEN RENNER'S exciting fantasy series, STORM WITCH, continues this month with UNDER EARTH, which sees Storm journeying with the island's traders to the wealthy, hidden island of Bellum. Ellen is the author of YA fantasy Tribute (2014) and Outcaste (2015), the Flip Flop Club series of books for 8-12 year-olds (as Ellen Richardson), and the Storm Witch series. It and the sequel, City of Thieves, were chosen for the London Times' Best Children's Books of 2010.

Her first book, Castle of Shadows, won the Cornerstones Wow Factor Competition and the North East Book Award. She spins wool as well as stories, plays the violin, fences (badly!) and is a keen motorcyclist. She originally trained as a painter and surrounds herself with sketches of her characters as she writes. Reading about other people and places made her want to travel, and Ellen first came to England in her twenties. She decided to become a writer when her fourth grade teacher, Mrs Ormsby, read Charlotte's Web to the class one spring afternoon. There's a big problem that could ruin the whole thing for everyone, and only Elly, Tash, and Sierra know about it.Ellen Renner was born in the Ozarks mountains of Missouri. The headline act is being kept top-secret, so when the three girls discover that it's none other than their favourite girl band, they're buzzing with excitement! Especially because the band will be performing on stage with the winner of the Tomorrow's Stars competition, which Elly, Tash, and Sierra have entered! If the girls can just get their dance moves in time and their singing in tune, could they be up there on stage with the stars? But all is not well at the festival.
